7 Stages fiercely condemns racial injustice and the inciting of violence. We are resilient in our art making and vital conversations.

One week ago, while fair and legal votes were being confirmed with both the Presidential and Georgia’s Senate runoff, we experienced an insurrection: a violent uprising against our government. White supremacy and privilege allowed citizens, law enforcement, and public figures to not only be complicit in these acts of racism and violence, but actively supportive. While this is a result of many problems stemming from the beginning of our countries’ founding, the dangerous escalation of hatred and lies cannot be tolerated. This is a non-partisan issue, and we as artists take our role very seriously. We have hosted a number of non-violent protests, non-partisan debates and numerous voter registration drives. We celebrate resilience with light in the face of darkness.

We ask you to denounce these acts of racism and violence.  Silence in the face of injustice is intolerable. While our government engages in confrontation and some move towards reconciliation, we offer brave space for the creation of vital conversations, connection for healing, and courage for holding their feet to the fire.

Inauguration is in one week, Wed Jan 20th. In place of our Happy Hour with Heidi on Friday the 22nd, we are organizing virtual time to connect and share best methods for focusing on our health and hearts. As we are able, we will be offering our community a Service Saturday on the 23rd.  Details coming soon. Feel free to reach out to Artistic Director Heidi S Howard @ heidi@7stages.org with needs, ideas, and / or resources.
