7 Stages’ Home Brew Series provides a platform and resources for works in development that exhibit promise, stimulation, and provocation. Performances and readings often hit the stage for the first time, providing the benefit of public interaction to fine-tune these works. This can be a crucial stage in the development of performance art.
Audiences can often expect an evening of refreshments, live performance, and conversations around the themes of the work. These performances sometimes coincide with 7 Stages’ Art of Activism dialogues.
7 Stages has developed new works for over 40 years, and in 2013, this program was coined the Home Brew Series. It is a way for writers and producers to workshop productions in various stages of development with a live audience. Some notable productions include: Angry Fags, Mass Transit Muse, The Navigator, Dracula The Rock Opera, Charmed Ones and many more. This program has taken many forms–from a puppet theatre constructed on stage to short films premiered online–that always prove beneficial to the producers.
