The Children’s School & 7 Stages present Into The Woods Jr!
Premieres March 13, 2022 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. Into the Woods Jr. features all of your favorite characters-Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.
7 Stages has hosted The Children’s School for several years now, as their space does not allow for such large cast productions. Their fearless leader Christy Robinson, the founder of the school theatre program Players, has produced shows with them for almost 20 years and in 2020 made the choice to combine forces with 7 Stages!
Together we have created two original films, Zoomical The TCS Musical and Who Fried The Noodle, as well as a short devised ensemble piece for their fall showcase. For the past few months we have been working diligently to honor the memory of Stephen Sondheim with Into The Woods Jr for their spring production.
7 Stages values the voice and creativity of the young artist, they are given the freedom to write, design and improvise as they see fit using our professional teaching artists as guides throughout the process. It has been a huge transition for them as we merge our two worlds amidst a global pandemic however the outcome has always been the TCS students amazed by their brilliant creations. This March we are returning to a live audience, something we are all very excited about despite our ever changing reality. At The Children’s School and at 7 Stages, we like to say “trust the process”, which is exactly what we’ll do!
