Youth Creates 2023 Ensemble presents The Glitter Effect

July 28, 2023 at 8 PM and July 29, 2023 at 2 PM

In just five weeks, the Youth Creates 2023 Ensemble creates a play from scratch, and this year they have devised The Gl1tter Effect!

In a far away galaxy, there are worlds full of wonder; from floating cities to mysical forests, to planets made entirely of mushrooms. Every world is unique. But what happens when an unnatural substance called Gl1tter sweeps through the galaxy and threatens to turn its inhabitants into hulking monsters? How can these worlds survive this threat to their natural magic? What will it cost them?

Youth Creates is 7 Stages’ training program providing experiential learning and performance opportunities for teenagers. Through playwriting, design, and performance, students collaborate to create an original production. This summer we continue to be dedicated to safe collaborations and looking forward to creating together again still in limited safe distances at the theatre! We will explore various techniques and skills, support your visions and ultimately celebrate by welcoming audiences in person AND online to our world premiere!

The Glitter Effect - Full performance from 7.30.2023

A message to the ensemble from 7 Stages Education Director Destiny Renee:

My dearest ensemble members,

I am so thankful to have found each and every one of you. You all shine brilliantly bright in your own unique ways. It is an honor to guide you throughout the artistic process of creation, one that I do not take lightly. I hope you leave 7 Stages theatre with tools to carry on into your life as an artist as well as a global and dare I say universal citizen. This has not been an easy process for us, but most things that are worth their weight in gold are rarely ever easy. Thank you for bringing your full selves and being committed from day one. I had a vision of the finish line before we even began, I’m overjoyed that we are crossing it together. Shine on, you beautiful souls!
